Good ole kiwi summer

Today it was warm!  Love this kinda weather.  I think it helps that our house is nice and cool most of the time.
Today we went to put up our market umbrella and discovered that a baby bird had found it's way inside the umbrella.  We lifted it out and were pretty sure where it had come from.  Jani got the ladder and popped it back into the spouting so it could be continued to be cared for by it's parents.  Ten mins later the clever(or not so clever) we thing had found it's way down again.  It was using the down pipe as a slide and as there is an open drain with grill on it, it was landing there.  So hubby came up with something to cover the down pipe so baby birdie can stay put. Bella was intrigued with the whole affair.

Putting it back so it can return to the nest

The second time wee birdie needed rescuing. It is true that he or she is not the most gorgeous of God's creatures, but hey...we all need a second and sometimes third chance!

By this stage we were hot, so we decided to water the lawn with the sprinkler, and also cool off.  Bella got introduced to a bit of kiwi ingenuity....the sprinkler.  I know as kids we spent many a summer afternoon or weekend cooling off by running over and under and around the sprinkler.
Bella can be a little cautious at times, but after doing it with Dad for a few times, she was keen to give it a go herself.  I love the look of utter joy on her face in these photos!
